After an MRI on Monday, the tests results came back that Berkman severely tore his meniscus and not his ACL. He is expected to miss at least six weeks.
Looking at the injury it seemed obvious that he tore his ACL, which would end his season, but the MRI showed no sign of an ACL tear, but it’s still possible which is why Berkman will be reevaluated later in the week.
In fact, even Berkman thinks there’ll be an ACL problem. “All the information I’m getting plus what I felt leads me to believe there is an issue with the ACL,” Berkman said of the injury. “I’m hoping that’s not the case, but I’m not sure that’s the case.”
I’m not much for playing the hypothetical “if game”, so I won’t go into possible solutions if Berkman’s season is over because it’s not, but I’ll just give you this; I think they’ll solve the problem from within.
