AAA Memphis Off To Bad Start
Despite the Cardinals being off to a good start at 5-3, the same can’t be said for the teams AAA club.
After winning the season opener the Memphis Redbirds have lost seven straight and set at the bottom of the league at 1-7. Granted it is early, but some of the Cardinals’ top prospects have contributed greatly to the losing cause.
The Cardinals’ number one prospect Shelby Miller is off to a bad start of his own. In two starts Miller has given up eight earned runs and has an ERA of 9.00. His poor pitchhing has led to his record falling to 0-2 at the begining of his first season with the AAA team. The 21 year old Miller is projected to be in the Cardinals starting rotation in 2013, but if his early woes continue through out the season those plans could change.
Another top prospect Zach Cox, is off to a bad start of his own. In 30 at bats Cox has just four hits and is hitting .133.
The Cardinals’ top hitting prospect Matt Adams is off to a good start though. Leading the team in home runs with 3, Adams is hitting .400 in his first season with the AAA club after hitting 32 home runs at AA Springfield last year.
